Job Description

Our Network team are looking to add an exceptional Telecom & Patent Engineer to their growing team!

PA’s Networks capability includes an Intellectual Property team which provides independent advice helping organisations to nurture and grow their businesses through the identification and making the most of their strategic intellectual property assets. Our team of telecom and patent technical experts is a highly valued and respected part of PA’s Innovation division.

As technology becomes increasingly complex and multidisciplinary our clients need expertise to help them navigate increasingly challenging patent landscapes. 

As a telecom and patent Consultant you would be using your robust technical knowledge, coupled with a strong analytical and reporting skills to:

• Evaluate patents and their applicability to telecom standards;
• Assist in the scoping and preparation of patent transparency reports in various areas of telecommunications;
• Conduct patent landscape analyses and inform on potential risks and opportunities;
• Review intellectual property portfolios and identify portfolio commercialisation and optimization opportunities;
• Capture and record strategic intellectual property assets and devise asset-specific valuation and protection strategies; and
• Provide technical litigation support in conjunction with external legal specialists.

This role offers fantastic breadth and learning opportunities, giving the incumbent the opportunity to work with senior consultants across a diverse range of industry sectors.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with telecom technologies, including 3GPP Technical Specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to collect, synthesize, and visualize large amounts of complex and diverse data and present data-driven insights with a compelling narrative.
• Familiarity with Python and its use for data analysis.
• Experience with or willingness to learn and excel in patent analysis and essentiality checks.
• Customer focus, with a professional and confident communication style.
• A strong interest in how technology is commercialised and the innovation process in general.

Highly Desirable Skills:

• Familiarity with different patent analytics tools and platforms (e.g., PatBase, Patsnap, Cipher, etc).
• A general understanding of the finances behind technology development and commercialisation.
• Insights into international patent laws and mechanisms.
