Description

We are hiring a cleared Telecom Specialist to support Inside Plant (ISP) telecommunication systems for a U.S. Army NEC in Ft. Huachuca, AZ. 

The Telecom Specialist is a vital position at the Army NEC, ensuring the effective transmission of data and voice throughout our systems. This individual will be responsible for Inside Plant telecommunications cabling, ensuring that every aspect of the communication lines operates at peak performance. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. O&M Responsibilities: Undertake the operations & maintenance (O&M) of installed equipment, notably bridges, power rectifiers, and battery backup systems, following the guidelines set by the OEM. This includes tasks such as torquing, load balancing, and thorough visual inspections.
  2. Equipment Management: Provide O&M for ancillary equipment and ensure it operates seamlessly with primary devices. Designs, implements, operates, and maintenance of telecom facilities and equipment (wired/wireless, switching, bridges, and telephony). Supports civil, structural, and electrical engineering as needed.
  3. Infrastructure Maintenance: Address service requests swiftly, isolating and repairing any communication/infrastructure issues to maintain consistent service.
  4. Cabling Lifecycle Management: Oversee the installation, de-installation, movement, and removal of instruments, service lines, and LAN services. This includes managing all necessary connectors, terminators, and pair gain devices, as well as ensuring that all unused cables are correctly removed.
  5. Emergency Response: Be on standby to handle any emergencies related to cable cuts, outages, and other unforeseen events, ensuring minimum downtime and rapid service restoration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree coupled with 7 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications support. An additional 2 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • DoD IAT Level II or higher certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)).
  • Active certifications: Nortel Certified Technology Specialist (NCTS) and Cisco Certified Technician (CCT).
  • Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance.

Desired Experience: 

  • Previous experience at an Army NEC or with U.S. military telecommunication systems.
