Job Duties

To deliver fresh and frozen produce, milk, eggs, juice, Kosher products, and emergency supplies to facilities throughout VA, NC, and MD. The VADOC Agribusiness Unit is charged with providing agricultural training opportunities to inmates in an effort to enhance re-entry and reduce recidivism, while reducing food cost for VADOC.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of high school or equivalent 2 years’ experience in the operation of transfer highway equipment. Possession of valid state motor vehicles operator’s license. Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Considerable knowledge of state laws and agency regulations governing equipment operation. Demonstrated ability to instruct others in use of maintenance equipment. Successful completion of prescribed physical exam by a qualified physician. Knowledge of highway and equipment operation safety rules.

Additional Considerations

Possession of valid tanker certification. Working knowledge of produce handling.

Marijuana use is prohibited for positions that require possession of a firearm or a Commercial Driver’s License in the performance of official duties such as Corrections Officers, Probation Officers, Tractor Trailer Drivers and others.
