Position Summary
Carlyle’s infrastructure business is comprised of teams that invest in six primary sectors: energy infrastructure, water and waste, transportation, digital infrastructure, power generation and renewables. Carlyle infrastructure manages more than $7 billion in assets across four funds including a global infrastructure opportunities fund, a North American power fund and a new renewable and sustainable energy strategy launched in 2019. Carlyle’s infrastructure funds presents investors with a scalable platform across the full spectrum of infrastructure sectors, geographies, durations and risk-return profiles.
Carlyle seeks to recruit an investment professional at the Vice President-level to join its Infrastructure team. Based in New York, the candidate will play an integral role in deal execution and portfolio value creation for digital infrastructure-related opportunities as well as other infrastructure-related transactions. This role is critical for driving value creation, portfolio management, and strategic investments in the rapidly evolving digital infrastructure sector. The investment professional will play a pivotal role in shaping our investment strategy, optimizing our portfolio, and contributing to the growth of our assets under management.
Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Management and Value Creation
- Value Enhancement: Work closely with portfolio companies and Carlyle Operating Executives to create value across their assets. Identify operational efficiencies, revenue growth opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Drive DPI (Distributions to Paid-In): Lead efforts to maximize returns by actively managing existing portfolio companies. Collaborate with portfolio management teams to identify value-enhancing opportunities, optimize operations, and execute exit strategies.
- Strategic Exits: Develop and execute exit plans to achieve optimal returns for investors.
2. Investment Strategy and Deal Execution
- New Deal Sourcing and Evaluation: Originate, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities in the digital infrastructure space. Leverage One Carlyle network and also telecom industry expertise to identify attractive targets.
- Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investments, assessing financials, market dynamics, competitive positioning, and growth prospects.
- Deal Structuring: Collaborate with the investment team to structure transactions, negotiate terms, and ensure alignment with investment thesis.
3. AUM Growth and Scaling
- Support AUM Growth: Contribute to the growth of AUM by actively participating in supporting fundraising efforts, selective engagement with existing and potential limited partners, and supporting IR/internal teams in showcasing track record.
- Scale the Platform: Work closely with senior leadership in the Carlyle Infrastructure group to enhance investment platform, streamline processes, and strengthen competitive position in the market.
Qualifications
Education & Certificates
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is a plus
Professional Experience
The target candidate will have a minimum of 6 and up to 10 years of experience, with prior experience in Infrastructure investing. The target candidate’s background will include:
- Track record of deal execution on Infrastructure-related private equity and/or debt transactions, with specific experience on Digital Infrastructure transactions necessary
- Advanced financial modeling capability and ability to interpret financial metrics when analyzing investment opportunities
Telecom Sector Expertise
- Industry Insights: Leverage deep understanding of the telecom sector to inform investment decisions. Stay abreast of technological advancements, regulatory changes, and market trends.
- Network and Relationships: Leverage network within the telecom industry to access proprietary deal flow, collaborate with industry experts, and build strategic partnerships.

- Ability to think critically about the qualitative aspects of a transaction as well as execute on the quantitative analysis required to evaluate an investment opportunity

Benefits/Compensation
The compensation range for this role is specific to New York City and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $250,000.
In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
