The Global Workplace Security Team is a specialized team dedicated to the security and safety of OpenText employees, products, property, and information.

Based in Waterloo, Ontario, the Program Manager, Global Security Operations Center will be responsible for overseeing the Global Physical Security Operations Center (GSOC), which provides 24/7 monitoring of building alarms associated with the Enterprise Access Control systems and Video Management System (VMS/CCTV) deployed in our offices around the world.

The GSOC serves as a central point of contact for security-related incidents, employee safety concerns, and emergency responses. The Program Manager will manage a team of third-party security professionals to ensure seamless operations, system functionality, and timely response to potential security threats or incidents. This includes development of GSOC KPIs, SLAs, key metrics and standards to ensure a responsive, best in class GSOC which supports a diverse and complex, global corporate footprint.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS:

  • Manage and maintain a 24/7 operation that monitors and responds to building alarms, enterprise access control, and VMS systems globally.
  • Ensure rapid response to alarms and security incidents, maintaining constant situational awareness in the environments we operate in.
  • Provide support in the investigation of breaches, alarms and participate in After Action Events as it pertains to GSOC activities.
  • Ensure regular system audits of all GSOC-related technology, coordinating with the Security Technology team for maintenance and repairs when necessary.
  • Supervise the reception and triage of calls for service, including security incidents, emergency responses, and employee safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with regional security teams to ensure all security protocols and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Serve as a point of contact for coordinating security team response in the event of emergencies, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, or security breaches
  • Provide support during incident response in coordination with key internal stakeholders, including Facilities, Business Continuity and other members of the Global Workplace Security team.
  • Manage and develop GSOC personnel to ensure high levels of performance, professionalism, and adherence to company policies.
  • Schedule and manage shift rotations to maintain 24/7 coverage, ensuring the GSOC is appropriately staffed at all times.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all security incidents, alarms, and maintenance checks.
  • Develop and deliver regular reports to leadership on GSOC performance, key incidents, and system health metrics.
  • Ensure all GSOC operations comply with global security standards, company policies, and local regulations.
  • Stay updated on best practices and trends in security operations, incorporating innovations to improve efficiency and effectiveness in a GSOC environment.
  • Keep current and aware of new and existing global offices to ensure evolving threats and conditions remain appropriately addressed.
  • Seek to understand the OpenText Business Model and Values and ensure that solutions, practices and security policies are rooted in understanding the OpenText way.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Experience managing GSOC operations, including access control and CCTV systems, preferably with a large-scale, international corporation rooted in the management of facilities-based security events.
  • Knowledge of security technology systems, emergency protocols, and incident management.
  • Excellent team management skills, with the ability to manage a 24/7 operation.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams and external agencies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Access Control platforms and VMS (CCTV) systems.
  • Experience in handling large-scale security events, crises, and security escalations.
  • Proficiency in risk management and emergency planning.
  • Ability to create meaningful metrics (KPIs, SLAs), report on these metrics and use these metrics to inform risk management and financial decisions related to the GSOC Program
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours as needed to support a 24/7 environment.
  • Post-secondary education in an area of study relevant to the position or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in physical security operations, with at least 2 years in a management role, preferably in a global or enterprise-level organization.
  • Certifications such as PSP (Physical Security Professional) or CPP (Certified Protection Professional) are highly desirable.
