Job Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for all aspects of the general ledger and grants management including compliance with financial directive and procedures in conformance with Governing Board goals, priorities, and plans.

Job Duties Include:

  • Ensure financial compliance with Florida Statutes and Governmental Accounting Standards.
  • Serve as central grants manager, maintain projects database, and quarterly project financial status report. Ensure grant reporting is accurate, timely, and complies with grant terms.
  • Responsible for Truth and Millage (TRIM) process
  • Responsible for Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) process
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of finance and accounting procedures.
  • Ensure proper accounting through regular analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure investment income is properly allocated.
  • Maintain general ledger. Prepare month-end and year-end general journal entries.

– Prepare monthly financial reports for Governing Board and Leadership and serve as subject-matter expert during monthly financial meetings.
– Prepare various complex financial reports and in-depth financial analysis to identify historical trends, prepare budgets, and forecast for long-term planning.
– Conduct quarterly grant review with Finance team and project managers.
– Record Accounts Receivable invoices as needed.
– Record and maintain the annual budget and vendors within the Districts financial software; create and input new account codes.
– Coordinate with financial auditors, prepare schedules, and provide supporting documentation.
– Ensure Capital Assets are properly recorded and maintained.
– Serve as backup for cash management, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
– Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of budget and accounting experience.
  • Governmental accounting and grants management experience preferred.
  • Professional budget, finance or accounting experience can substitute on a year-to-year basis for the required college education.

Base Salary:Salary Range: $62,000. – $70,000. Pay Grade 114 ; Starting salary commensurate with selected candidate’s competencies and qualifications.
